Jabon Tree

Jabon Tree (Anthocephalus Cadamba)

Jabon Wood has a fairly high domestic and international demand. The uses for this wood, include building materials, plywood, products of woodworking and craft items. In the last five years, the demand for Jabon and Albasia timber has increased greatly. This has been due to a chronic shortage of Jabon and Albasia timber stocks for industrial applications outside the island of Java .

Jabon is the most widely used industrial wood in the plywood industry. Initially it was used as wood face veneer, with the core side and back veneer being Albasia, In recent years however, Jabon has been used as the back and face veneer and even for the core replacing natural woods such as Meranti.

Java’s wood industry has grown, while industries outside Java have decreased during the same period. There is a tendency to shift plywood and veneer industries to Java as it is the logical source of raw materials. In addition to the veneer industry, other industries process Jabon and Albasia timber for export,  as furniture components, assembled furniture and craft items.

Jabon's  lightness, durability, ease of drying, machining and fabrication, makes it ideal as a replacement for Albasia, resulting in increased demand and higher prices for Jabon.

GWoods - The Green Hardwood

The supply of hardwood has greatly reduced as a result of the implementation of policies to protect forest wood. Consequently the price of hardwood has risen as demand exceeds supply. Despite the adoption of good governance in the harvesting of forest wood, supply continues to lag behind as it takes decades to replace hardwood trees!
In order to tap into the hardwood market, we have developed techniques that convert 5-year-old Jabon softwood, into hardwood that looks and works exactly like natural hardwood. This amazing product is known as GWoods.

Using our proprietary technique, we can produce hardwood from our plantation grown 5-year-old Jabon softwood. The result is a solid hardwood with a density and hardness equivalent to 30 year old teak wood and species like Ulin or Merbau, that command high market value.

The meticulous manufacturing process, part science and part art, produces hardwood that features beautiful grain patterns, can come in varying shades of color, is hard wearing, water resistant and termite proof.

One cubic metre of GWoods will produce about 66 square metre of 15mm thick tongue and groove floorboards. With the price of hardwood on the rise, and supply of forest wood dwindling, we believe we have a cost effective, 'gogreen' solution that preserves forest hardwood and satisfies demand for hardwood around the world!
